Catherine Hilliard is a Philadelphia workers’ compensation attorney at Stern & Cohen, P.C., where she represents injured workers throughout Pennsylvania. She previously defended healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases. That experience showed her how insurance carriers and defense attorneys evaluate medical evidence, and she now uses that insight to fight for injured workers and the benefits they deserve. Her healthcare background also gives her a strong understanding of the injuries that nurses, hospital workers, and home health aides face on the job.
Education
Catherine graduated summa cum laude from Rider University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Human Resources Management and Business Analytics. She earned her law degree from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, graduating with Pro Bono Honors. During law school, she served as President of the Health Law Society. She also competed nationally on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team in arbitration, mediation, and health law compliance competitions.
Legal Experience
Before joining Stern & Cohen, Catherine was an associate at a defense firm in South Jersey. There she focused on professional liability, representing healthcare professionals and long-term care facilities in medical malpractice and related matters. Today she draws on that defense-side experience to anticipate how insurers will challenge a workers’ compensation claim and to build stronger cases for her clients.
During law school, Catherine completed externships with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She assisted attorneys with matters involving medical malpractice, healthcare compliance, civil rights, and administrative law.
